Freedom of Expression& Disagreement
Valuing Freedom of Expression, Civil Disagreement, and Mutual Respect
We uphold the principle that freedom of expression is essential to peacebuilding, understanding, and democratic life. This includes protecting the right to voice dissent, challenge assumptions, and engage in open debate. IPI encourages civil disagreement, discussions that may involve profound differences in perspective but are conducted with mutual respect. We affirm the legitimacy of each person’s lived experiences and the importance of listening to and learning from diverse narratives, even when they challenge one’s own worldview.
